Mercury is the smallest and closet planet to the sun. It governs communication and travel and is also known as the Winged Messenger. Mercury travels around the Sun approximately every 88 days. Once Mercury makes a complete revolution around the sun it begins retrograde motion for 21 days. Mercury makes this journey three times a year. When Mercury is travelling around the sun things are running pretty normal and smoothly. When Mercury is in retrograde motion it is the opposite influence becoming the planet of miscommunication and accidents. Retrograde motion is similar to when you are driving along and see a car beside you but the rims seem to be moving backward in motion and yet the car is moving forward.
